Miss America to Push Girls' STEM Skills
On Sunday, September 15, Miss New York, Nina Davuluri became Miss America. She's beautiful, of course, but it's her brain that we're especially excited about! The newly crowned Miss America was on the dean's list and in the National Honor Society at the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a degree in brain behavior and cognitive science. And early plans indicate that she's dedicated to helping other young women pursue passions for science. Here's a highlight from a Miss America statement - "During her year as Miss America she will serve as spokesperson for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)...as she travels to Washington, D.C., to work with the Department of Education."
