Fancy Feet: Couture Footwear

Hình ảnh
With the Paris Couture Week having just wrapped up, I thought this would be the perfect time to make some fancy footwear for the girls. Underneath those fancy gowns, made-to-order power suits and luxurious fur coats exists some very fancy footwear in the world of Haute Couture. Not your ordinary off-the rack-stilettos, women fortunate enough to afford such expensive garb, will indulge in this most special footwear every bit as precious as Haute Couture itself. Since my posts on Spats  and Stocking Shoes , friends and followers have encouraged me to take that last step and  make "real" doll shoes. What has stopped me has been the difficulty in making suitable and symmetrical high heeled soles. I have even been all over the internet trying to find a source that sells those delicious FR soles to no avail. Recently, however, I received a tip suggesting I might try building shoes on top of existing soles....those cut from bottom of Barbie shoes! What a great idea! Full disclosure!

Women We Love: Marlo Thomas

Hình ảnh
"That Girl" becomes "That Woman"   Marlo Thomas starred as Ann Marie, an aspiring actress in New York City, in the tv sitcom "That Girl" from 1966-1971. Her character was single, slightly goofy, spunky (a characteristic later attributed to Mary Tyler Moore's Mary) and quite well-dressed for a sporadically employed young woman. I never watched the show because— well— at the time I was a gainfully employed single young woman in New York (with considerably less wardrobe). Don't forget the fishnets! With the exception of a sailor hat that must have been left over from "Gigi", we really did dress like Marlo. Or tried to. Short-short body-skimming shifts, bright colors, geometric patterns. Flats or kitten heels. I even had a "fall", fake hair to achieve that flippy hair do (cemented in place with Elnett hairspray). I mention all this because Marlo Thomas, at 79 and with many wonderful achievements to her credit, has just launched a 15

UMK: TWO MORE DAYS TO GO

Hình ảnh
Most of my time the past months, or if not most then at least a lot, has been taken up by my participation in UMK; the competition for new music, which in other words is the national selection for the Eurovision. It has been an interesting project in many ways, but we'll get back to all that next week when this is over!   Some time ago we were filming some inserts for the finals.  Chrzu  was directing and gave us lollipops. Everyone loves our glitterboots. But hey who wouldn't.   But even awesome glitter boots need to be taken off every now and then. Btw you did know that Dali designed the logo for Chupa Cups , right? Last weekend it was our turn to do  a Facebook live for UMK . Which we casually shot at Weird Antiques . Love that place.    Tinker Bell and I play miniature bongos. The place has monkeys. And you know who loves monkey? Me! Me! Me! They have this  monkey-o-matic BimboBox  that I one day must own. And today we had the first rehearsals at the Metro Arena. I'll s
